If you have no other packs to install, you can now run Launcher to patch both games to the current patch version. Remember to let Launcher run and patch twice if you have two games. If you have more packs to install, test load each game before proceeding to the next always via the .exe; and only run Launcher when you're ready to start patching all the games at the end.

The install method above would use the patch included in the retail game disc for the base game only.

Therefore, this method may cause the games and packs to be on different patch levels as Launcher tend to only patch the base game and last pack installed. A SimGuru on the official forums assured that as long as the base game's and last pack's gameversions are on the same patch series, ''quote'' "You're fine" ''end-quote''. To workaround this shortcoming, try the '''alternative''' method below.

As of Jun 2010, this method means you're installing and patching in the following sequence:

* BG

* WA (which will patch BG to 1.5)

* HEL (which will patch BG to 1.9)

* AMB (which will patch BG to 1.12)

* FL (which will patch BG to 1.15

* EADM

And when you run Launcher at the end, it may prompt you to install patched for WA and/or HEL.

This '''alternative''' method would save some time and bandwidth by using the SuperPatcher on the DVD (if you have retail versions and the last-release addon is at least the Generations EP or anything newer).
* BG + EADM, then run Launcher or patch BG manually to 1.12
+
* WA then run Launcher or patch WA manually to 2.7
+
* HEL then run Launcher or patch WA manually to 3.3
+
* AMB and you're done.
+

If at any time, Launcher stalls or you would rather use an executable file to patch (don't install EADM at all), download the files on the next page and just bypass the Launcher.

[edit] Standard Method

If you're also reinstalling Expansion Pack(s) and/or Stuff Pack(s),

  1. reinstall base-game
  2. if on Windows, do not install EADM/Origin
  3. test load the unpatched base-game first (via the TS3.exe; ie Bypass Launcher)
  4. download the SuperPatch for the current Patch version as shown on the last row of Game Help:Patch Table
  5. double-click to run the SuperPatch installer
  6. test load the patched base-game first (via the TS3W.exe; ie Bypass Launcher)
  7. install the first Expansion/Stuff Pack that you have, according to its release date (actually, order no longer matters after patch 1.22)
  8. at the message of mismatch versions, click OK or Next
  9. do not install EADM
  10. test load the Expansion/Stuff Pack that you just install (via the TS3W.exe; ie Bypass Launcher). The Screen should be the addon's loading screen, if not, something has gone wrong and you need to uninstall before starting-over from (7)
  11. repeat (7)-(10) until you've installed all your addons, testing after each pack
  12. finally, if you're on Windows and you want Origin, download from the site after making sure you have uninstalled any older versions. See Game Help:EADM Issues

[edit] Alternative Method

An alternative method is

  1. reinstall base-game
  2. if on Windows, do not install EADM/Origin
  3. test load the unpatched base-game first (via the TS3.exe; ie Bypass Launcher)
  4. install the last-released Expansion/Stuff Pack that you have, which would automatically patch your game (from that DVD) to the patch version that addon requires to run
  5. if on Windows, do not install EADM/Origin
  6. test load the Expansion/Stuff Pack that you just installed (via the TS3W.exe; ie Bypass Launcher). The Screen should be the addon's loading screen, if not, something has gone wrong and you need to uninstall before starting-over from (4)
  7. confirm with Game Help:Patch Table or the current Game Update News page that there are no newer patches. See Game Help:TS3 Patching Find Gameversion, if you need an FAQ on how to find out this information. If not the same, then patch to current level first before continuing the rest of the steps.
  8. repeat (4)-(6) until you've installed all your addons
  9. ignore any message of mismatch versions, click OK or Next
  10. testing after each pack is installed (via the TS3W.exe; ie Bypass Launcher), with the screen still the one showing at step (6)
  11. finally, if you're on Windows and you want Origin, download from the site after making sure you have uninstalled any older versions. See Game Help:EADM Issues

This alternative method would save some time and bandwidth by using the SuperPatcher on the DVD (if you have retail versions and the last-release addon is at least the Generations EP or anything newer).
