===Vampires===
Vampires in Sims 3 were introduced with the Late Night EP, and differ from vampires in Sims 2 in a few ways. The most obvious are that they can go out in sunlight without bursting into flame, and that they aren't immortal - they do age but at a much slower rate than a normal sim.

Vampires are plasma-drinking sims that gain buffs at night and have hypnotic and psychic powers over mortal sims. Unlike in The Sims 2, sunlight will not kill a vampire, but it will slow him or her down severely and also make them smolder. Although very slow to age, vampires are also no longer immortal by default. Instead, vampires must now earn immortality through the Immortal lifetime reward, which unfortunately also makes them sparkle in sunlit. Vampires are almost instantly recognisable from normal sims due to the soft and unhealthy glow their skin has. They also tend to have bright, flashing eyes, and you will notice when they eat or laugh that they also have sharp fangs.

===How To Tell Them Apart From Other Sims===

[[Image:Vamps.jpg|thumb|Female vampire in the foreground and a male changing into one in the background.|500px|right]]

Vampires' eyes are slightly paler in color and glow after transformation.  Their skintone will be paler than it would be if they were a normal sim, and their skin has a noticable aura.  And, obviously, they have fangs.

===Features===
+
===Getting a Vampire===
* They do age, but much slower (about 5x) than normal sims.
+
* They can go 'on the hunt'.  This option appears by clicking on the ground in a place where other sims are present.  The vampire will look around and identify the best-tasting sim in the vicinity.  This sim will show up under their relationship panel with a purple background, and they can be identified on the map by an icon, meaning that your vampire will always be able to find the best blood without having to look for it.
+
* They can go out in the daylight without dying.  After 1 game hour the "Heating Up" moodlet will appear (-25 Mood, 3h timer).  During this time the vampire's body will smoke.  After 3 hours the "Heating Up" moodlet will turn into a "Too Much Sun" moodlet (-50 Mood, 2d timer).  The sim will also pass out at this point from sun exposer.  During the two day moodlet of "Too Much Sun" a vampire sim will not have access to their nightly "Vampiric Vigor."  At the end of the two day "Too Much Sun" moodlet you regain access to "Vampiric Vigor."  In my testing, neither of my vampires died from sun exposure; they only experienced some very nasty moodlets and bad Celebrity publicity. (Testing was done with two young adult vampires, one male with the disciplined, ambitious, athletic, brave, and genius traits and one female with computer whiz, bookworm, artistic, adventurous, and genius traits. Both sims stayed outside for an entire 3 game days without so much as entering a building, tent or celebrity star trailer, as these items reset their "Heating Up" moodlet.)
+
* They can reproduce and have the chance of giving birth to a vampire child, however if the child has vampiric qualities they do not become full vampires until they mature.
+
* The chance for a vampire child is 50/50 with a regular sim, and 100% with another vampire
+
* They will only bite the neck of a sim they are in a romantic relationship with.  If the willing victim is just a friend then they will bite their wrist.
+
* when they sleep, they emit V's rather than Z's like normal sims if they are using a regular bed. (if you buy a coffin for 2500 they will emit Z's)
+

====Pros====
+
'''Ask a Friendly Vamp''' - If you meet an existing vampire and wish to join their legions of the undead, just get close to them and then ask them to turn you. This will start as an itchy bite and gradually progress across three days until you become a vampire in a flurry of red light and bats. They will only bite the neck of a sim they are in a romantic relationship with. If the willing victim is just a friend then they will bite their wrist.
* They can run super fast.
+
* They have unlimited stamina while working out.
+
* Motives decay slower at night.
+
* They have mind reading skills.  Vampires can read other sims' minds to find out their traits, career, favourites, relationship, and sign.  They can also make another sim think about them, which increases the success of social interactions.
+
* They can learn skills at an accelerated rate at night.
+
* They get a positive moodlet (Vampiric Vigor) at night. Vampiric Vigor begins at 6pm and lasts until 6am.
+

====Cons====
+
'''
* Celebrity vampires can also get a bad rumour for biting sims.
+
* Celebrities who woohoo with vampires can end up with a bad rumour circulating about them.
+
* They do not like garlic.
+
* They cannot stay outside for too long without getting negative moodlets.
+

===How to Become a Vampire===
+
===Abilities===
When you have found one you will need to befriend them - it's a precious gift, vampires won't just bite anyone - and then click on them and choose the option 'ask to turn'.  If the sim doesn't have a good enough relationship with the vampire then they may refuse.  If they accept then they will bite the sim's wrist and the sim will be surrounded by a red cloud with bats in (as seen in the picture above).
+

The sim won't change instantly: the process takes three sim days.  Immediately after being bitten they will get a neutral moodlet which lasts until the tranformation is complete, and over the next three days a few notifications from your sim might pop up about their bite marks.  When the sim transforms the same red cloud with bats surrounds them and their eyes start glowing, their skin pales, and they get fangs.
+
;Slow Aging
 +
They do age, but much slower (about 5x) than normal sims.

Vampire sims that are being played can also turn other sims, the option 'offer to turn' appears when you click on one.
+
;Hunt Interactions
 +
They can go 'on the hunt'.

===Feeding===
+
;Fast Skilling at Night
Vampire sims can eat real food, but it does not effect their ThristThey like tasty blood, aka Plasma. There are six ways in which a vampire sim can feed:
+
They get a positive moodlet (Vampiric Vigor) at nightVampiric Vigor begins at 6pm and lasts until 6am.

====Fridge ====
+
;Super Speed
They can drink Plasma Juice from the fridge (under 'quick meals').
+
They can run super fast and they have unlimited stamina while working out.

====Plasma Fruit====
+
;Mind Reading
They can eat Plasma Fruit.  When a sim becomes a vampire they will get some sent to them in the mail, and it can also be purchased at the grocery store. This can be planted and harvested.  Plasma Fruit Chowder can also be purchased from the food trucks.
+
Vampires can read other sims' minds to find out their traits, career, favourites, relationship, and sign, though there is a cool down period between doing this. They can also make another sim think about them, which increases the success of social interactions.

====Meals====
+
;Debuffs During Daylight
There's a lot of misunderstanding regarding Meals. While regular meals will NOT satisfy the Vampire's thirst, meals made with Plasma Fruit (Plasma Pancakes, for example) will. To make plasma meals: If your Sim only has plasma fruits in their inventory and fridge, and try cooking, the Meals that can be made with plasma fruits will have no prices, and when cooked and eaten will quench the Vampire's thirst (And their leftovers can be stored in the fridge as with any regular Meal).
+
Although they can go out in the daylight without dying, it comes at cost. After one hour the Heating Up moodlet will appear.  During this time the vampire's body will smoke. After three hours the Heating Up moodlet will turn into a costly two day long Too Much Sun moodlet.  The sim will also pass out, at this point, from sun exposure.  During the Too Much Sun moodlet a vampire sim will not have access to Vampiric Vigor.

[Full list of possible Plasma Meals required.]
+
;Raids
 +
They can raid the hospital for packs of Plasma Juice, or the grocery store for Plasma Fruit.  Plasma Juice aquired from hospital raids spoils at the same rate as those from the fridge, making them worthless for trips abroad.  Plasma Fruit, like other fruits, do not spoil in the inventory.  During a Raid both locations have comical messages displayed pretaining to what's going on inside.

====Other Sims====
+
;Misc Disadvantages
They can feed off of other sims by clicking on the sim and choosing 'drink' - this can be rejected if the relationship between the sim and the vampire isn't high enough. The sim who has been fed off will have lowered energy as a result.
+
* Celebrity vampires can also get a bad rumour for biting sims.
 +
* Celebrities who woohoo with vampires can end up with a bad rumour circulating about them.
 +
* They do not like garlic.
 +
* They cannot stay outside for too long without getting negative moodlets.

To get the best plasma the vampire should go 'on the hunt' and drink from the sim they identifyBy doing this the moodlet associated with feeding will be stronger (+50) and last longer (8hrs) than drinking from any other sim.

[edit] Getting a Vampire

Ask a Friendly Vamp - If you meet an existing vampire and wish to join their legions of the undead, just get close to them and then ask them to turn you. This will start as an itchy bite and gradually progress across three days until you become a vampire in a flurry of red light and bats. They will only bite the neck of a sim they are in a romantic relationship with. If the willing victim is just a friend then they will bite their wrist.

[edit] Abilities

Slow Aging

They do age, but much slower (about 5x) than normal sims.

Hunt Interactions

They can go 'on the hunt'.

Fast Skilling at Night

They get a positive moodlet (Vampiric Vigor) at night. Vampiric Vigor begins at 6pm and lasts until 6am.

Super Speed

They can run super fast and they have unlimited stamina while working out.

Mind Reading

Vampires can read other sims' minds to find out their traits, career, favourites, relationship, and sign, though there is a cool down period between doing this. They can also make another sim think about them, which increases the success of social interactions.

Debuffs During Daylight

Although they can go out in the daylight without dying, it comes at cost. After one hour the Heating Up moodlet will appear. During this time the vampire's body will smoke. After three hours the Heating Up moodlet will turn into a costly two day long Too Much Sun moodlet. The sim will also pass out, at this point, from sun exposure. During the Too Much Sun moodlet a vampire sim will not have access to Vampiric Vigor.

Raids

They can raid the hospital for packs of Plasma Juice, or the grocery store for Plasma Fruit. Plasma Juice aquired from hospital raids spoils at the same rate as those from the fridge, making them worthless for trips abroad. Plasma Fruit, like other fruits, do not spoil in the inventory. During a Raid both locations have comical messages displayed pretaining to what's going on inside.

Misc Disadvantages
  • Celebrity vampires can also get a bad rumour for biting sims.
  • Celebrities who woohoo with vampires can end up with a bad rumour circulating about them.
  • They do not like garlic.
  • They cannot stay outside for too long without getting negative moodlets.

[edit] Feeding

Vampire sims can eat real food, but it does not effect their Thirst motive. They like tasty plasma.

They can drink Plasma Juice and Plasma Orange Juice from the fridge (under Quick Meal).

They can also eat Plasma Fruit, which is essential if the vamp has the Vegetarian trait. When a sim becomes a vampire some of these fruit arrive via mail, and they can be purchased at the grocery store.

When dining at the bistro a vampire sims' thirst motive will be replenished. Plasma Fruit Chowder can also be purchased from the food trucks.

[Full list of possible plasma meals required.]

They can feed off other sims by clicking on the sim and choosing the Drink interaction, however this will be rejected if the relationship between the sim and the vampire isn't high enough. The sim who has been drained will have lowered energy in the form of a moodlet. To get the best plasma, the vampire should go 'on the hunt', and then drink from the sim they identify. This results in a stronger and longer lasting feeding moodlet (+50 and 8hrs) than drinking from just any random sim.

[edit] Curing Vampirism

If you've had enough of playing a creature of the night, your sim can be cured by taking a visit to the Science Facility and purchasing a bottle of the cure for $3,000. They don't have to drink it right away; it can be stored in their inventory until needed.
