The castle spire is actually a solution for conical roof before OFB and custom-object-based cone roof.
So, it can be categorised in roof misc.
As for the arched Atrium tutorial, it's actually talking about how to make a curved roof. Despite the shape, the type of roof and the sort of technique are the same as mikeinside's curved roof. It's the resultant shape of the roof that makes its look somewhat different. Also, a particular type of roof can be used in various kinds of buildings, so the building kind has nothing to do with the roof type itself even though there're some roof shapes are defined to be parts of some particular buildings through customs, traditions, beliefs, etc.
