A note about the manifest and SKU numbers
It is possible that the manifest number isn't 3-digit but is instead two boolean values followed by the manifest number apended to it. The same goes for the SKU number. The appending behavior is already witnessed going from 0 to 2 and if this theory is correct, manifest 10 will make the version string 7 characters long instead of 6. Similarly, the position of the 1 in the SKU number most likely represents a boolean value but it is unknown what they represent. It most likely has something to do with patching. There's no way to know if the actual SKU number is appended as it is with manifest number and because it is unlikely they will ever create another SKU, it is impossible to know how it works, specifically. I will update the page as information becomes certain. --FordGT90Concept 00:48, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- EA apparently isn't making the manifest number in the version representative of the actual manifest (probably because of the overrun I discussed above). As such, it is very likely the manifest number will remain at 9 for the foreseeable future. --FordGT90Concept 20:32, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- Manifest 11 incremented the manifest number to 10 and it appears as 010. I think that confirms the manifest number is 3 digits long: left-padded with zeros. It remains to be seen if SKU is 1 digit with two boolean values or 3 digits. I'm thinking the former and possibly, the first boolean value could indicate DRM free. I'm not sure what the second boolean indicates. --FordGT90Concept 21:25, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- I bet it isn't concidental that the manfest number, "010", matches the executable version number, "0.1.0". I find it odd how EA actually lowered the executable version number from 0.2 to 0.1--that might be why. I'll have to keep an eye on it. --FordGT90Concept 21:30, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Turns out I was right--there is more to the SKU: it is, in fact, 3 digits. I think I won't update the page to reflect this because my names of Beta, Protocol, and Region are very preliminary (except for region). Not to mention, that's getting a bit too complicated and most people don't care. --FordGT90Concept 09:22, 5 July 2011 (EDT)
