Issues with Custom Installation
- Why not just have the file extracted directly to C:Program files/Electronic Arts/Sims 3 ? It would eliminate one step. User:Kewian 10:54 5 June 2009
- Because people on Vista with their permissions set up badly, which is after all most people on Vista, will receive an error if they try to extract into Program Files.

I have my game installed to another directory - are instructions the same with custom install as well as the default install? I do not have a Sims 3 folder in the directory given in the instructions, or do I have to create one?

- I'd assume it would work if you put it into the folder you installed to - that is, if you installed to Games\TS3, put Resource.cfg in Games\TS3, and put .package files in Games\TS3\Mods\Packages. This should work, I think! curlybap 16:28, 4 June 2009 (CDT)
\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

- Can I put pattern files into \Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\Patterns or must they be in \Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages? Also inside the Packages folder, I also have folders called Skins, Misc and Hacks. Can I place Hacks in \Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\Hacks would they they need to be in \Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages ?
- You can use any subfolder structure you like, up to four levels deep.
