Occult Status

There are a variety of specially powered Sims that are governed by an "occult" status, which is the name in the code for the system that manages most supernatural sims. There are several exceptions, like Ghosts and Zombies, that are not coded as occults and have their own unique set up. Typically non-occult supernaturals are capable of sharing their status with an occult status, such as having a Zombie Fairy or a Ghost Vampire. Occult statuses themselves are intended as mutually exclusive, for example the game tries to make it impossible to have a Vampire Witch or a Genie Imaginary Friend.

Typically one new occult is added per expansion pack, however The Sims 3 Supernatural added three in one shot, alongside two special non-occult statuses: Zombie, and Toad.

In the Relationships tab, some occults have colored borders around them. This allows the player to tell at a glance which Sims have which status. However, most occult statuses do not create these borders.
