Step 4: Prep your Working Folders

Prepare your working folders. You will be dealing with several mesh parts and you must not get them mixed up. Since my project has several TS2 meshes, I gave each main conversion folder the name of the mesh I was converting and specific sub folder names for the various parts used during the conversion. I copied this template to all my projects.

While you can set up your own names for your working folders and put them wherever you want, don't bury them too far because you'll have to navigate to them for every fetch and save. The MLOD/MODL folder names are specific so you can tell what it what as you go about swapping things all around.

Create working folders with the following, or similar titles:

  • DragonTree - name of original mesh
    • img - contains the TS3 textures
    • MLOD-00000 - contains the decompiled MLOD-00000 files
    • MLOD-10000 - contains the decompiled MLOD-00001 files
    • MLOD-10001 - contains the decompiled MLOD-10001 files
    • MODL-00001 - contains the decompiled MODL-00001 files
    • TS2-original - contains the extracted TS2 .OBJ mesh and the TS2 textures
    • TS3-mesh - This contains your new TS3 clone
